Republic of Moldova

Joanna wants to visit Moldova, so our path leads us to Chisinau.
Our host lives on 15th storey in large post-soviet concrete block.

We are going for a walk and we are experiencing a very heavy storm.

We are seeing a classic police car.

We are seeing workers causing annual, one month stoppage of hot water system throughout the city.

We are wondering why properties in such a bad condition are so expensive.

We are seeing different means of transportation...

...and really odd stuff.

People use tin foil as the best DIY windows screen.

Big gate welcomes tourists to the most expensive wine museum you could imagine.

Signs explain how to use roundabouts.

And billboard shows result of adding car to bottles.

We are enjoying local ice-creams...

...and cold, but disgusting water.

They have got some old buildings...

...cars.

I am surprised with complicity of intersections...

...the scariest elevator I have seen...
.

...and the buses timetable.

He sells ice-creams in buses.

We are passing aforementioned super-wide intersection.

Bricks are being transported.

...to be recycled later.

We have opportunity to see their best views...

...their roads...

...bus stops...

...old cars again...

...buildings...

...bathrooms...

...roads again...

...and their best tourist attractions.

Fed with Chisinau we are deciding to head back towards Romanian border. After whole day of quite slow hitching, we are looking for a place to camp, but we are offered a place to sleep. Stranger met on the street is hosting us in his small, simple, but cosy house. There is no shower and toilet inside, but only outside. It is fair enough for us. Later that evening we are talking in basic Russian and enjoying organic, home made sweet cherry compote. That is the most surprising and the nicest part of our visit in Moldova.

We are passing huge roundabout.

That must be a swallow.

We are taking a risk and going trough Riscani.

We are thumbing for a while, crossing Romanian boarder, hitching, camping, hitching again, walking, again camping, and hitching to Northern Poland in 25 hours and 4 cars. Now we are preparing for the Woodstock Festival!
